Congratulations on 25^th anniversary, PSS!

I first learned about PSS Polymer Standards Service in Mainz from Axel Mueller nearly at the moment of PSS foundation and I have been a devoted user and admirer of all what PSS has done since that time. PSS provides the best service to polymer community, listens to what researchers need and provides high quality solutions and excellent reliable services.

When Peter Kilz and Christoph Johann, two of my Ph.D. students, asked me what I would think about founding a company producing polymer standards and custom-made polymers I was more than skeptical. Anyway, they insisted and I remember our brainstorming for the name and the first logo of this company. Now, after 25 years of expanding in size and products, first polymer analysis software and then the corresponding hardware, they have grown from a lab in the basement of Mainz University into a multinational company in their own splendid new building. I am proud of seeing this dynamic, still young company further growing.

25 years of PSS?? So long already?? Wöhlerstrasse seems not so long ago at all!! Time flies and we have done a lot together. Critical Chromatography, 2D-LC, high speed GPC, LC-FTIR - we have met over and over again. Hopefully it will be the same in the future; we will bridge the 10,000 km distance Mainz - Stellenbosch.
